Luckinbooth For Lovers
Celtic Paidirean - Pink Tourmaline, Mauve Tourmaline, Black Tourmaline, Watermelon Tourmaline, Green Tourmaline, Sterling Silver
The Luckenbooth was so named because it was sold from “locked booths” on the Royal Mile adjacent to St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland in the early 1700s. The Luckenbooth was exchanged between lovers on betrothal, was pinned on the shawls of newborn babies to protect them from being taken by “evil spirits”.
Tourmaline is thought to be for people who bear a broken heart, as it encourages love, gently disperses emotional pain and dissolves disruptive feelings. It calms the negative emotions that upset relationships. It is also considered an aphrodisiac, helping people realize when it is safe to love and when it is time to overcome sorrow or traumatic memories. It introduces the presence of compassion and wisdom when dealing with others because it is thought to promote flexibility of thought and open-mindedness. All colors of tourmaline are thought to be powerful. Each person seems to have a different reaction to tourmaline.
Pink tourmaline represents a love of humanity and humanitarianism. It is worn to promote sympathy towards others. It carries the virtue of unconditional love and friendship.
Watermelon tourmaline (pink with a green outer edge) has been said to be a stone of reconciliation, a stone that fosters compassion and cool headedness, radiates the energy that attracts money, healing and friendship while stabilizing, grounding and reaffirming our Earth roots.
Black tourmaline repels negative energy. It is suggested to carry this stone when you feel surrounded by negativity, and it is great for use in times of crisis or extreme stress.
Paidireans are long enough to loop once when wearing. Meditation necklaces, or Paidirean (PAH-jur-in) are an ancient Celtic form of meditation & prayer necklace. They are 150 beads in three sections; birth, life and death, or maiden, mother and crone. Looking at the path of our lives in sets of three can be helpful in understanding the natural circle we all follow.
I make all my meditation necklaces by hand, drawing on spirit for inspiration and guidance. They are made with intention, spiritual direction, and mindfulness. The combinations of stones are dictated by the feel of the stones themselves as I assemble the piece. This piece is one of a kind. Use it in good health!
